Film Screening – Complicit
COMPLICIT was filmed over 3 years in
China's electronics zones Shenzhen and Guangzhou with lush
cinematography, hidden camera and unique access. The film takes the
audience on an 8000-mile journey to the world's electronics factory
floors, revealing the situations under which China's youth population
has shifted by the millions in search of a better life. COMPLICIT’S main
protagonist Yi Yeting is a former migrant worker struggling to survive
occupational leukemia. He discovers a resource center that helps other
workers in similar situations, poisoned by benzene and n-hexane.
Deciding to work on the cases of several teenagers who worked on
smartphones he brings his fight against benzene from his hospital room
to Silicon Valley and the international stage. Against huge odds Yi
directly confronts corporate and government interests, while empowering
and inspiring the people around him.
